Dead Car Update

As most of you already know, my first SVX died on the PA Turnpike Friday on the way to Reading. Thank goodness Todd had the "Amadeus" that allowed us to move all of our crap out of our car.

So the car was flatbedded to Never2phat's place (thanks again) where it will sit for a week or two.

I have used a transportation brokering service that Todd sent me a link for and I have gotten the transportation from PA back to WI for $600.00 That is about what it would cost in gas for the truck, trailer rental, and tolls to go out and get it myself.

Once I get the car back here, I'll test the tranny for fluid pressure and get ready to install a five speed.

I think the pump or torque converter failed. The car was shifting perfectly, no flares and no delay into gear on cold days. We were traveling about 80MPH and suddenly the tranny lost all forward and reverse gears. The instant and catastrophic failure leads me to believe that there is no fluid moving in the tranny any more. Looking from underneath, I can see that the flexplate and torque converter are both spinning.

Stay tuned to this channel for updates.

Doug

Actually, I only needed a small part from your diff. The plunger that fits inside the VSS#2. I would have never known it was broken had I not seen yours.

I passed the rest of the diff on to Randy this past weekend as you instructed.

Well, now I am for sure going to get a five speed.

For which I'm deeply grateful. Thank you, Phil. Dunno if it'll make the tranny guy here in town more at ease, but, your gesture is noble and very much appreciated. Thank you, again.

Yes, it's in beautiful shape. My wife has to drive "Patience" this week, a couple of times, to a temp job. It's nice to know if the front diff becomes toast, I'll be able to replace it, post haste.

I'd definitely do the same, if it were within my power. Still, I can't thank you enough.
