Re: oil leak on top of motor

If they don't, it can be installed afterward.

Re: oil leak on top of motor

Well, started the project. Vacuum hoses hard as a rock. Connectors cracked. Check valve crumbled, etc. I ordered some more more parts. Anyway, it looks like the oil is coming out of the center of the IRIS valve I did not take it off the manifold yet. Could this leak be because the PCV valve was backed up? or do I have a bigger issue with the IRIS valve?

I do not know of any bushing/seal/O-ring to seal the factory shaft IRIS shaft.
However if you replace the IRIS O-Ring, that should take care of most of the vacuum leak/oil leak.
Otherwise it will need an IRIS valve.

For the record, I have never bought a new one from Subaru.

OK thanks. Maybe the IRIS valve is fine. I am hoping for the best. Subaru is really proud of their parts. I can just imagine what that would cost...

Re: oil leak on top of motor

I am having trouble finding an IRIS valve on the subaruparts.com site. Does anyone have a part # or link?

Re: oil leak on top of motor

Is the IRIS valve the same as the Induction Control Valve?

Re: oil leak on top of motor

It is all back together. No leaks so far. Just a warning for anyone that decides to replace original vacuum lines, be prepared to replace most of the expensive components that are under there. Lines rock hard and nipples brittle. snap. snap. Anyway, I am glad it is done.
