Speedometer/speed sensor 2
About a week ago my speedometer stopped working and I got the check engine light on. I checked the code and got 33. Speed sensor 2. I could not pull it out by hand. I have read that these things can be a royal pain to get out. My main question here is can I drive the car without causing any other problems to occur. I did drive it home after this occurred with no apparent problems. But have not drove it since.

Re: Speedometer/speed sensor 2
Yes you can drive the car. I'm having the same issue on an outback. On that vehicle, the vss is screwed into the passenger side of the transmission and accessible by removing the air intake box. I'm not sure if it's the same for the SVX. I will warn you that they are expensive. Autozone quoted $109. Might want to check a junk yard if this is your problem. Is it just your speedometer or did the mileage counters stop as well? If just the speedometer, it could be a wire shorting out.

Re: Speedometer/speed sensor 2
Hi thanks for the reply. The first. I didn't have to replace mine. I unplugged the wiring to try to pull the sensor out but as expected it was stuck. I came back the next day and plugged it back in to drive it anyway and it works again. I drove it yesterday and no check engine light or anything. BTW autozone list price was 249.00 Ouch. There is a way to test these things before buying new on the autozone page for different subaru models. Take care.
