Security Alarm Question...

So I went out to my car this morning and notice the car door ajar.

Cigarette lid was open, I had some red thing from my visor sitting in my seat and my CD case was moved but nothing was missing. Everything seemed intact but it certainly has my attention. Ever since someone backed into the side of my car a few years ago, the security system doesn't fully engage like it once used to every time and I tend to forget (not anymore mind you) to wait and check to make sure the doors lock.

I was reading through the forums and noticed it was mentioned that if it was engaged and you tried to open the door the alarm system would beep at you? I've never had this happen when fully engaged so now I'm wondering if my system is indeed faulty or something else is amiss.

I'm going to see about increasing the sensitivity later this evening and making sure my doors lock before departing.

Re: Security Alarm Question...

if you forget to disarm it and you unlock it with the key or if the door was not locked it will beep for a few seconds then it will start wailing the alarm.
I have done this a couple of times as I had locked my doors using the key and did not(at that time) expect the alarm to arm itself.

Maybe I misunderstood what I was reading then. I know the beeps you get after opening the door and not disarming it first but I mean like if it is armed and you attempt to open the locked car door, reading replies as if it'll set off a warning alarm if you try to open the door but mine doesn't do that?

Far as I know it will always beep first, giving you time to disarm before it goes into full wail.

Yeah, roll down your window. Arm the system, then reach in, unlock the door and open it. It will alarm, shut the door and the alarm should shut off soon.

Then hit the remote button to disarm the alarm and it should beep differently when it disarms to let you know that there was a "violation".

Neat! I didn't know that. How does it beep when that happens?

Re: Security Alarm Question...

I forget how its different. I think I read somewhere once that the number of beeps will tell you what was violated.

yes it will beep 4 or 5 times, I have noticed that as well.
it also seems to be a slight different tone of beep.

Re: Security Alarm Question...

Jusrt anote
If you arm it with the remote and open with a key the motor will not start. i never tried it but the Manual states that for the 92. also the 92 is auto Armed after 45 sec.
Enter the car Alarm sounds , close door
turn on parking lights
start motor alarm my sound for 2 min.
turn off parking lights
Normal arming : Exit car close door hit remote , one beep one flash
On 92 45 sec after last door or trunk is closed unit will arm ( only 92 model)
If you get 3 beeps and 3 flashes there has been an intrusion
after opening the doors there is a 17 sec delay before the alarm will sound
Light flashes
2 = Door was opened
4= shock to car ( bumped )
5= use of non authorized tran.
8= ignition tampering
Hold tran button fro 4sec to sound horn in panic situation
If the horn gives of 4 quick beeps when armed alarm is not activated or a door is open
