Vanity Fair Article on Ralph Lauren's Classic Car Collection

Ralph Lauren is also well known as a collector of automobiles, some of which are extremely rare. A large portion of his over 60 automobiles are held in his large estate in Katonah, NY. Among other fine examples, he owns a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, 2 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossas, 3 1996 McLaren F1s, one of them an ultra-rare F1LM, a Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, a 1929 Blower Bentley, 2 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantics, and a Bugatti Veyron. His cars have won best in show at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance multiple times. In 2005 his collection was displayed at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts.[17]

In this month's issue, there is an excellent article about Lauren's superb collection (60 cars) - quite diverse, to say the least. Probably the most interesting (read rare) is the 1930 Mercedes - Benz SSK "Count Trossi", the ONLY one made. And all of these are licensed to drive, which he does on a regular basis. Interesting "garage" that he keeps them in too ..... And we thought Jay Leno had a "collection"!!

I have seen Leno's collection on TV... this guy is nuts!
He has that steam driven old car (forgot the name)... that needs to be pressured before driving it and depressured after. LOL
