5 Speed Clutch problems?

Have a 92 converted to a 2003 wrx tranny with a F1 clutch stage2 & 10 pound flywheel
dont drive it much as its under construction and not reg yet. lol

Well i was driving it up and down my street today when i let the clutch out it has some really wierd chatter/popping when the clutch is out its gone, then mash the peddal and i hear it a little. Now here's why i think its the clutch slipping,
From a stop rev'ed it to about 3500 Rpm dropped it into 1st was expecting tire squeal! instead no real fast acceleration but left a cloud of clutch smoke and filled the car with its smell.

Its got maybe 20miles on it, why would it be slipping?
Rear main does not leak, and slave is good letting it come back all the way.

I can see a couple reasons...

1. F1 clutches are total junk

2. There is a 500mile break in period on clutches in which you need to bed the disc and pressure plate.

You will likely need to pull it back out and replace it with one that does not suck

When I did my 5 speed swap, I initially used a crappy clutch. It barely got me home from the garage. I then switched to a Spec Stage 2 and never had any other problems.

and then there's the case where you go with a Stage 1 clutch and upgrade the engine at the same time...

I have a 9lb flywheel in mine...it chatters a bit. Slave and everything still in good condition?Hard to imagine a clutch just fails brand new unless something was install improperly.

The OE exedy clutch from the WRX would be more than enough to handle the torque from the SVX...Really cheap too.

yeah its in good working order. I just wonder if it just needs to be broken in.
