Re: Replacing weak trunk struts How-to with pics
The website won't let me download it. Can you email it to me?

Re: Replacing weak trunk struts How-to with pics
That will certainly be a worthy addition to the How-To Docs. Thank you.

Re: Replacing weak trunk struts How-to with pics
rather than drilling a new hole further up you can choose to get longer struts.
http://www.autopartsbylou.com/lift-s...e=uni&x=23&y=9 these are nice but only have 75lbs of force (still chould be enough as the struts are there for assistance or these (a little more expencive but more than enough room and lbs/force: http://www.autopartsbylou.com/lift-s...e=uni&x=19&y=1

Re: Replacing weak trunk struts How-to with pics
The thing to be concerned with is getting struts that are too long. If your trunk opens past vertical, it can contact the body.

Re: Replacing weak trunk struts How-to with pics
i see your concern but the struts that i linked are only .04-.09" longer throw than the stock center line measurements.

Re: Replacing weak trunk struts How-to with pics
using this method with the ball studs, could you take the Hood Strut how-to, and use these ball studs for easy replacement in the future? plus, I like how clean it makes it look overall

also, not that im ungrateful or anything, but the prescribed hood struts are like an inch shorter than the stock ones. not a huge deal, but im surprised theres nothing closer to be found among the (certainly) thousands of existing aftermarket struts someone was mentioning the same for these trunk ones? i need to replace them as well, i hope thats not going to be a huge issue. aside from all the extra work required to change these out... quite a bit more than the hood swap. |
