Does anyone know... Fan moter electrical stuff.

My fan motor behind the glove compartment is spasmodic. comes on sometimes and at other times just hangs in there. Taking the bottom off and applying a little oil is too easy.

I did that twice and it would still fail to operate about half the time. I unplugged the electrical quick disconnect and the connectors have been heating up and the white plastic is discolored, bad from the heat caused by not making a good connection. I am replacing the motor and the spade connectors in the quick disconnect.

My question is...
There is a paste that is made for electrical connectors and I have only used it in the past hooking up breaker boxes to the incoming service power lines.

Does anyone use it or know if it would be ok to put a "little bit" on the individual spade connectors before plugging it back in. Does anyone do that?

The replacement motor is not new but I removed the unit, the fan from the motor... the bottom flange and oiled from the motor , top and bottom bearings. The brushes look good so it should function a while. No clue how much a new fan motor is...

If anyone knows about the electrical paste, please post the information and the part # of a new motor as well.
Thanks,
Keith

The paste is called dielectric grease. I use it on all connections which are exposed to any moisture. It stops any corrosion from happening and aids in making a better, water repellent connection.

Thanks for the reply! A little dab wouldn't hurt just on the metal part of the connector then?

Not a bad idea at all.
