Why I love spring:

An extra 1.5" of rubber at each corner.

245/40/17 General Exclaim UHP's on my gold BBS rims.

It's great having performance tires back on the car. The Blizzaks are amazing snow tires, but aren't exactly the best on tarmac. THe Generals are smooth, but a little noisey. There's noticably more tread noise at lower speeds (my dad said it sounds like an SUV coming down the road), but nothing unbearable. The tires start to hum around 90 MPH, but quiet down again around 100. The ride isn't any more harsh with the 17's. The Generals have fairly soft sidewalls and absorb small bumps pretty well.

I also took the oportunity to change my oil and front/rear diff oil. The front had been done recently (probably shortly before I bought the car) but the rear fluid was a thick black sludge.

Those general's have some thick and aggressive tread. I do feel that they dont grip too well in the dry and wet as my Contiextremes, or maybe it's because I'm taking my car more to the limit more than I used to.

How do you feel about the grip of it?

I only took them out for a short spin and didn't test the grip too much. I don't have enough experience with different tires to make comparisons, but I'd say they're doing well so far. I'll test them out better over the week.

Considering it snowed pretty bad today I think I'll leave my winter tires on for a tad bit longer. Perhaps they'll come off on the next warm day that comes around.

That's my neighbour. I rented an Echo once. It's like driving a go kart around. I was amazed that it could maintain 110 MPH on a slight uphill grade.

Something to note: I weighed the BBS rims and tires, and my stock wheels and tires. Results: According to my really old, step on and watch the needle swing sort of scale, both weigh 42 lbs. However, the tires on my stock rims are 205/55/16 Blizzaks, which are a bit smaller and lighter than normal sized summer tires, so I'm probably saving a pound or three overall.
