Blew My Transmission Today...
i was driving to work and heard a sound like two sheets of rubber rubbing against each other, loud squeaky and not good, then 100 ft down the road i slowed down then took off and it went ot shif out of first, and clunk then no second free revved i bumped it into neutrail, then back to drive then third, second and first no responce no matter what, looking like it's time to start the 5 speed swap

onestly i havent checked, it wasn't leaking any.
however i just started it and put it in reverse and it made a loud grinding noise no matter what gear i tried aside from neutral and park, so i'm going under that asumption that it is totally boned right now

well thats what it did this morning when i left for work, wait, do you mean speedo, or tach, because the speedo reads normally and did for the whole tow home, when i gave it gass this morning the motor it just acted like it was in neutral.
tonight just for kicks i started it to see what would happen, and it rolled forward like 5 feet with out a problem, acted normal no matter what gear i put it in, then i put it in reverse and it made this loud grinding noise and continuse to make it in all gears now edit : useful additional information, the front diff has been pretty noisey and getting worse as of late, so currently i'm thinking i blew the diff

yeah... front diff went kablewy... If the speedo revs with the engine like it was supposed to be moving, you have a spider gear failure in the carrier which i have seen happen a couple times... If the speedo reads 0 you probobly roasted either the ring or pinion on the front diff

find one of the many people that have blown theyr trans but the diff is good and swap it...its easy, I did it on mine... had a issue with a seal leaking in the diff but that was my buddy acting like a butcher....it would be much cheeper then doing the 5 speed swap......unless your trans was acting up.....
