launching over a speed hump = broken diff

So the other day Im driving home and its Monsoon season here..
3" of rain in a few hours, streets flood etc. ..the other day it happen
on the drive home from work.
So I took a detour down a street I use once in a while to avoid
the flooded main streets, and doing about 45 when I see a NEWLY INSTALLED speed
hump (ours are usually about 3 ft long and 2-3" high) in the pouring
rain at the last second ..damn. I had my dog in the front seat too
so I couldnt just slam on the brakes or she would of met the windshield
real fast..I touched the brakes, put my right arm to the side to keep
Sabrina from diving forward, and held on...Im pretty sure I caught air
and my front tires did hit my front fenders..ugh.
Soon after I still had to drive thru a 30 ft section of road with about
2ft of water ( I have video of that, almost got swept away there )
Anyway,...no I have a horrid clunk and shutter when turning...
backing up or going forward. Im almost sure its the front diff.
So Im going to drive it like I stole it until it breaks and see how long
it can last... keep you all posted.

Are you kidding? They'd just go, "Oh, the speed bump broke your car? Then why were you speeding?"

If speed humps like that aren't marked by signs in this state, the state is responsible for any damage incurred.

I would think if it was the front diff, it would not just be a problem when turning...sounds more like a bad axle, or suspnsion component to me...

Just my take on it

Either way, I hate it for you....

I am conisidering calling the city road maintance about it
because it was new and there where No markings on it or
signs up anywhere. The speed limit on that rd is 30 and I
that would of also caused some damage I think.
Huck, I put the car in the air, the driveshaft, rear axles etc
all are tight as a drum, but the noise doesn sound like its
coming from the rear. But Ive heard this noise before on other
Svxs and it turned out to be the Ft dirff. Another reason Im
not fixing anything till well,...it really breaks and the car wont
move. haha.

its not funny, but Im just trying to make it seem less harsh as
it really was...
Actually you can file a claim with the city, which I did today to
have them pay to fix your car, so maybe if all goes well they will
pay to have it fixed. Being as it wasnt properly designated with
a sign etc, I have a good case.
