I wish you were closer to me and I would use your shop to get some stuff done when I don't have the time. Good luck and Happy New Year.

What your idle threats in 05 and 06 weren't enough? Now you need yet another year to beat a pearlie?

Oh, by the way you're getting your wish by default, the 5 speed is in dave's basement! Not so sure I'd be proud of it though. That's like Chike (who has fallen off the face of the earth as of late) saying he's the fastest X-svxer.

Good point Figure I'll just start '07 by establishing exactly what the current engine can do in the 1/4 (perhaps sacrificing it in the process? ), then move on to the new engine You'll just have to tell me which autoX events you plan on participating in in '07 so I can make plans

Which Tom are you going to have do the 5 spd?

Young Tom has gractiously offered to do the swap at a very nice price in return for his name on the car from what Dave tells me. Our engine builder is chomping at the bit to get his hands on the engine. Prelimary estimates from him are around 300hp at the crank without the use of those smoke and mirror tricks and I don't think that involved a cam change as he insists you don't touch the cams until the end. Don't have a clue what he's got planned but I know he's got 20 years of experience in hill climbing and will be pitting for the Rolex 24.

I'm still hoping to focus the car toward the hills. Granted it might not be quite feasable until mid- late season. I know we'll do Hershey and the Farm Show events but that might be it.

I still wanna get the XT out there a few times with the Ben stock variation (a 5 speed in fwd). I've got the times very close to SVX territory now!

Hey I'm still around Ben... I check in at least once every 1-2 days - I just don't post as much.

I'm really looking forward to the next season of autoX. Picked up some brand new stock-sized 17x7" Subaru SPT wheels (weigh 18lbs a piece - 3lbs lighter than my stockers). Also got some 225/45/17 Victoracers for my first few local events and an Evolution School I'll be attending in April, and then a set of 245/40/17 Hoosiers will mounted for the rest of the season!

Edit: Pics of my new wheels!

Chike

P.S. After some research into the strength/length of Subaru studs, I'll be taking your advice and running some 3mm spacers on my front wheels only - inorder to dial out understeer. Tried this at my last Solo event of the year and finished 9th in Raw Time and 3rd in PAX (on my RA-1's). Had FTD for 1/2 the day (stock classes and ST were the first two heats) but then the SP & SM groups started racing.

Again, racer race, those who can't talk about it. KTIM when getting advice over there!

They should show lots of caliber and rotor rust for ya. Don't get why my wife's gt has more rust on the rotors every morning then my SVX does after sitting for the winter.

Agreed. The 'silly season' has definitely begun over there... However, strong drivers such as Sam Strano, Karen Krauss, GH Sharp, Jason Isley, John Vitmas, etc all post on there regularly. I've been a member for almost a year, and just went over 100 posts this past week - I'm definitely doing more listening than talking.

So will you and Dave consider attending the June 23-24th National Pro Solo event at Fedex stadium? Should be a good chance to see how you stack up against national Prepared drivers on fast national-style courses.

Doubt it as I really don't want to do more than a couple autoxs this year and hopefully those won't be in the racer but just an simple cheap hs car. Would rather put the money and time toward building since the powers that be at the scca don't understand what competition is.
