Moonroof sticks

My moonroof won't always lift up unless I give it a nudge. Is there something I should use around the rubber/felt surround to keep it from sticking? Thanks.

moonroof...

Mine will occasionally stick after a wash job....
I greased the tracks it slides on with with wheel bearing grease, and it very rarely hangs up....

There is a TSB that says to place silicone on the sunroof gasket (not the fuzzy part, just the rubber seal). Some people have also had luck with adjusting the clutch nut, but you can only adjust it slightly. Pull the plastic plug in the roof, behind the dome lights to access it.

Moonroof ??

Must be another language thing, but in UK we call them a "sunroof", which is not strictly accurate when you think how cloudy it is over here all the time With appologies for the spelling and grammer, in france they call it a "finetre anglaise" or English window, so make of that what you will. Anyway, hope you get it sorted soon.

Re: Moonroof ??

I am not certain if there is universal agreement, but I think of what we have as a sunroof. The Moonroof is one with glass so you can look out at the sky even when it is closed.

I'll have to check my "official Subaru Literature" and see what they call it. I believe, however, in the literature, it's called a "moonroof." Perhaps we should call it a "sunmoonnon-t-top-typeroof"

Ah, very cool. Saved me the trouble of trying to find the literature that my wife keeps calling "Randy's junk" and poking it away in some cubby-hole."

Yep, sun roof, definitely sun roof. Ten minutes to Wapner. Yeah, yeah. I buy my underwear at K-Mart. I'm a very good driver.

It's a motorized semi-permanent overhead moisture barrier. It's not to let the sun in, but to keep the rain out!

Please note a "Sunroof" and a "Moonroof are 2 different things.

A "Sunroof" is a metal roof piece that pops up and slides back on the outside of the roof.

A "Moonroof" is a clear glass/plastic roof panel that slides back inside the car. It slides between the metal roof and the headliner.
There is an opaque than that slides under the bottom of the moonroof to give privacy when the moonroof is closed.

Ok, so what do we call the kind with glass, but slides out over the roof? A "smoonroof"?

Kuoh,

It's called a sunroof. There are variations on all of them.

Larry III

It's a smurfroof if the glass is blue tinted.
It's a barneyroof if the glass is tinted purple.
It's a porthole roof if the glass is round.

You may not be able to see thru me but I can still be a pane.
