throttle adjustment

how come when i adjust my idle speed the ecu resets it to what it wants. by tightening the throttle cable. and there is no medium between 600 and 1000rpms its one or the other no in between. i want around 9ish for winter so car warms faster. i settle for 1k but ecu wont let me. bastard.

That's what high idle is for. You can't change idle speed without modifying the ECU.

The quickest way to warm up the car is to drive it. (don't go crazy though)

You could always install a block heater.
