actually you can find them almost half that price. The ebay link below has "Buy it Now" at $28.50 for a pair.

I said they can be had for less

Most people however only replace bulbs when the burn out and will run to an autopart store or wallyworld, and you aren't going to find them (silverstars) that cheap at places like that

what are the lumen ratings of our headlights? I want to know what kind of performance gains this price is getting.

Couldn't tell you, but since most cars that are 13yrs old, and have 100k on them are likely to have had the headlights replaced at least once in it's life time, I wouldn't trust that the original bulbs were even in the car.
