ECU crush mod?

Can anyone tell me what the ECU crush mod does?(scoobymods.com). They give instructions on how to do it, but never say what it is for.
Thanks.

I believe it's just for 92/3. I could be wrong. Just a warning though. If you don't do it right, it's 800 bucks worth of electronics that you are shoving down the drain. If your car is running fine, don't touch it.

In the early SVXes, there was a complaint of "hesitation" from many buyers. It was not actually "hesitation" but, a "lag" that was built in from the factory to keep from adding too much torque to the drive train at take-off. With so many complaints, Subaru decided to provide a "fix" for this problem, which was to crush the "noise supressor" in the ECU. If you go to the "Links" button at the top of the page, then, click on the TSB's link, you'll find the link that describes the problem.

DONT BOTHER!!!!!

I have a 92, and did it to 2 different ECU's. Both with absolutely no better performance. Unless you are really elec savy, its not worth wrecking your ECU trying.

I highly recommend doing this if you are experiencing the lag mentioned.
I had a serious lag with my 92 SVX and had this done, what a difference. It seems everyone has varying degrees of success and in my case it was a HUGE difference. I felt like I had a totally different car afterwards, of course make sure you disconnect the battery and follow all of the instructions very carefully. Make sure you leave the battery disconnected overnight to reset the system.

Good Luck, Keith
