Stupiity

A picture is worth a thousand words. Plus, I think he is welding near the gas tank. It's hard to see.

Back up

Hi Larry, I believe the guy is using that red tool box or whatever it is under the left front wheel to keep from being completly crushed when the 2x4s give it up. Take care, BOBB

If ya look closley its in front of the truck and against the curb, just the angle of the shot makes it look like the welder is under the tire...

Hi Napa, Ya, I see that now. I blew it up and found out about the welder. I wonder what he used to get the truck up in the air in the first place? I don't see a jack anyplace. Take care, BOBB

Hey, I've done that!

I think I was welding a bracket to bolt under my driveshaft idler bearing. It probably looked a lot like that picture. I used a 2x4 and a stack of spare wheels to pry it up. It balances at about 60 degrees or so. I used two stacks of wheels to hold it up, and yes, the parking brake was set and it was in gear. (It kept rolling around when I tried to pry it up. )

Once upon a time, at the local gravel pit, I dunked my Subaru wagon in a 'puddle.' One of my passengers didn't close their door all the way, so we flooded pretty quickly with muddy water. After I drove it out of the puddle, we opened our doors and let it all drain out. Then we all lifted from the driver's side and tipped the whole car up 'till it balanced. Of course, the carpet was soaked, but the standing water was gone.

When the doors are closed, the whole car will float for at least two minutes without any water getting inside, and probably wouldn't go under for another half-hour, but I've never had it floating for much longer than five minutes because that's when my feet get wet. (That dang engine makes the nose float low.)
