Need help on working on the AC system

I don't have the owner's manual. So I need your help on working on the AC. There are 10 buttom to funtion the AC:

OFF AUTO ECON
DEF VENT CIRC
OUT. TEMP LO * HI

What is AUTO? ECON? DEF? VENT? CIRC? *?
What setting should be if I just want the air coming from outside?
And what if I want the air generated by the car(not AC, just wind)? Thanks.

Auto turns on the climate control - the temperature setting to the left of the hvac buttons. Auto will maintain whatever temperature you set there.

Econ will attempt to do the same thing as auto, but without using the AC (someone correct me on this if I'm wrong?). Basically, it'll maintain the temperature as best it can, without engaging the AC compressor.

Def is Defrost, directs air to the vents on the top of the dash and the doors to clear your windows.

Vent is the straight vent from outside.

Circ is to circulate the air inside the car, rather than bringing it in from outside. Useful when driving through big dust clouds..

Perhaps I'm off base on these... someone else have better explainations?

You're right on, sith. A couple of additional notes: "Circ" will disengage after ten minutes (I think it's ten) to avoid continually recirculating stale air and possibly causing CO2 overload. Also, don't freak when your system automatically goes into heat mode and you don't get warm air out the top vents. The SVX was designed not to put heat out the panel vents. It will direct heat only to the floor. The engineers didn't want the heat from the upper panel vents to dry your eyes. Isn't that nice?

Set it to "Vent" then hit the "Lo" fan button, when you first hit the "Vent" button the climate control automatically turns the fan on, but by hitting the "Lo" button, you can over-ride the standard setting.
Hope this answers your question.
