Unhappy garages can be dangerous places.....

My Penny got her first major ding last week.

The sad thing is that it happened in our own garage. A trailer hitch fell off a shelf and put a major dent in the top edge of the passenger door. Paint missing all the way to the metal. To the tune of $500.

I don't have any pictures because I don't have a digital camera and I'm waiting on my film to be processed.

I have an appointment to get it fixed next week. I'll post some pics as soon as I get some.

Ow - sorry to hear that. I hope that the body shop does a good job matching it.

Sorry to hear about that Michelle. I recently experienced a self-inflicted ding as well. I opened up my driver's side door into a metal dumpster that was sat in our driveway. It put a nice little ding in the door and chipped the paint a little, which I touched up. I was stupidly attempting to buff out scratches at night, in the dark, hence the door accident. Earlier that same day, a piece of flooring or siding flew into me on the highway, marking my front bumper. Of course, I couldn't wait till the next day to deal with it.

Anyway, I hope your car's fixed soon. I'm surprised it's so expensive to get one ding fixed, although I guess the paint being chipped all the way to the metal will add a lot to the repair cost.

She'll be fixed and good as new, because I found my original body man.
For those who don't know, the shop who did my color change closed in December. But the owner is now with another local shop and I've chosen them to do the fix, mainly because he knows my car and the paint that was used.
May be a few months worth of paint that isn't quite the same shade because it hasn't mellowed, but hopefully it will match.

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

Ok, here's some pics. Hopefully she'll be good as new in just a couple of days.

I feel your pain, ill post pictures of my babies first major hull breach later tonight. Let me just say that it involved a tree and a rare outside parking situation.

Michelle,

Sorry about Penny. I feel your pain. Now I have a dent/crease in a similar place on the 92 Pearly, though mine does not break the paint. It happened in our driveway. I normally park SVXY (92 SVX) & AH SO (97 Outback) in the driveway. I used to park the SVX closeest to the house since it is my daily commute car. The large 120 gal. trash can is always next to the spot where I parked SVXY. This can stands about chest high has 2 wheels, and is plastic with a metal pipe handle. After a particulary windy night, I came out to start the car and go to work. I found the can laying on the door of the SVX. Of course the metal handle was in contact with the door. Just like toast always falls on the floor, buttered side down. Now I have a nice dent/crease above the door handle where the sheet metal curves in toward the window at the top of the door. The little "Ding Doctor" ($19.95... as seen on TV) that I have, is useless for this . I tried. This ding goes along with paint chips on the hood and rear spoiler, and dents in other spots. The windshield wiper arm are also rusty and need repaint. This is just one more item to add to the list for when I get the car repainted ($5000).

Did I also mention the dent in the middle of the roof of the Outback caused by a stone from a dump truck? This little beauty sits between the rubber strips on top of the wagon's roof. I am always amazed at some of the things that happen on the road.the
