free beer

Ok not really, but i need a favor. When i got my svx, used, pretty much all of the factory exhaust had been replaced. They did a nice job but removed all the cats and the primary muffler/resonator. My secondary muffler (the big one in the back that most people think of as the muffler) developed an internal rattle and today a nice big 30 lb box arrived from 1stsubaru parts with my new one. Of course i'm anxious to slap this thing in there but while i'm at it I'd like to put a resonator in too. Can anyone measure for me the distance between the lip of the secondary muffler and lets say hmmm center? of the factory primary muffler/resonator? I decided i didn't want to spend the money on a factory rear pipe which comes with it already welded in there.

Thanks to whoever, in advance

As far as I know there is only one muffler in the SVX.

Dang it... 2 cats go into a thrid cat which goes into a resonator and then to the one and only muffler.

The resonator is the "primary muffler." Don't ask me why, that's just what subaru calls it. It's a resonator. That's what i need the measurement for. I need to know how far up from the muffler it goes.

I beleive most of us swapped it out for a straight pipe, which is easily found, but I can't squeeze under my car to measure, sorry.

Do you want the pipe? I have the center pipe cut 2" behind the center cat, including the resonator, all the way back to the muffler. If you want it, just make an offer and its yours.

With no cats or resonator and only a long pipe to the "secondary" muffler he is going to need at least a glasspack if not a bigger resonator or "insert oab's technical writeup here" he will lose torque.

elninoalex, could you measure the pipe for me? I hear the factory resonators do go back and develop an internal rattle like my muffler did..........so I'm thinking i'm better off buying a stainless steel magnaflow in town. A stainless magnaflow resonator is $80 installed. I think the easiest way to measur would be from the back end of the pipe where it attaches to the muffler to the center of the resonator. If anyone else has any suggestions or differences of oppinion on what i'm thinking please chime in.

43" from the end of the resonator to the muffler end of the pipe.
