Just does not send any injector signals.
I doubt that the fuel maps would be any way near 9000. It cuts fuel at about 6800 I think.

Re: Building a 10,000 rpm NA engine.

Here is Mikes reply to the question.
Quote:
The maps only go to 6400 rpms but the ECU interpolates past that. I am not aware of any reasonable rpm not being attainable due to limitations of the ecu. I believe the rev limit cuts cylinders out. I used to use an 8500 rpm red limit on the engine I built for turbos which I never put turbos on. I never tried higher but don’t remember bumping against any mathematical limits.

Re: Building a 10,000 rpm NA engine.

I wouldn't think this engine would be using the standard ECU?

Re: Building a 10,000 rpm NA engine.

Your right Matt I was just wondering because I was going to stick one of my older engines in a frame/car and run it up to 11k to see what busts first, if the crank lives or dies.

Will get a hand from Bazza and use the Wolf ECU I have.

Re: Building a 10,000 rpm NA engine.

Our new copies of "Race Engine Tech" turned up in the mail today, of interested it has a story on the latest details about crankshafts and a story about the Subaru 2l rally engine and were that is up to. Also there is info on the Nissan Lemans V8 na.

Hopefully we can find some info to be of help with this engine.

Awesome. You may have to pdf that engine article

Also was reading this - may be of interest for the mid engine chasis, mentions a few things about weight reduction and wheelbase reduction in their new cars.

Re: Building a 10,000 rpm NA engine.

Tony/Bazza,

Can you summarize what modifications you've agreed upon to proceed with and where you are in the process of installing them? My memory is telling me modification to coolant system (moving thermostat, enlarging input to stock thermostat housing, enlarging bottom input pipe to radiator), modification to oiling system (Stock Car dry sump + ?? modifications to block??), reground stock cams running higher lift and duration with stock hydraulic lifters, springs, and valves.

Thanks.

Bill

Re: Building a 10,000 rpm NA engine.

Hi Bill,
I think we can better answer your question after friday as Bazz is taking the car to the track we will have with him 3 different temp thermostates to try out and find the best one to suit the job.

What I think we want to get to is a recipe of "How to" and What Needs to be Done" for different power levels that people are chasing.

Some of the changes and still in development so I think some of this is a work in progess.

Tony

Tony,

Thanks! I'm starting to move on my next EG33 build, and I want to make sure it incorporates all of the lessons learned from what you and Bazza are doing.

Cheers,

Bill

Tony,

Good question! Right now I'd have to say NA, because I'm not convinced I've wrung everything that I can out of a NA set up. Current engine's heads haven't been touched other than the cams, so I've got a set of heads I've been working over waiting to have their seats/valves redone. Pistons/rods still stock, so I've got STI rods that I'm looking to add aftermarket pistons to to reduce the reciprocating mass. Exhaust manifolds are still stock on the current engine, with unequal-length headers matched to the reground cams off in the wilds of West Virginia waiting to be cut/tacked together. I'd love to either get a hold of RallyBob's customized oil pan or implement your dry sump set up with a oil cooler in line. Cometic head gaskets and ARP head studs will round out the build.

Thoughts?
Bill
