You are correct that you generally don't want to pump the brakes if the ABS is functioning, but there are still exceptions.
The system may be derived from aviation, but I don't think the SVX's ABS system is on par with the performance of the big jets. While it does well slowing down from high or medium speeds, on ice or very hard packed snow, the SVX's ABS will lock up once the speed gets down to the low single digits. Normally this is not a problem as the car will come to a stop shortly, but on ice, even 5 MPH can mean the difference between making a turn and curbing the front wheels. KuoH Quote:
