Basicly with this I can more easily do it in stages. I'll see if I can get just the axle back of a Legacy GT set and 1-2 pipe into them till I can convert bit by bit. Then make up a dual pipe with flanges to link up to the Mufler in pipes and move the 1-2 to infront of the catback. Then after doing the cat swap out I have a true dual and a smooth flow. I have a 94 LSi so I dont have to worry about the third 02 sensor. Plus I have a system that I know either works or not for the Impreza aswell as the SVX. Comments? Suggestions? Utter N00Bism?

Has anyone considered putting 2 magnaflow 2" "spun cats" in place of the pre-cats, removing the main cat altogether, then putting a 2"->2.5" Y pipe and back to a AR25 or something, then 2.5 back to muffler? Thoughts?

That's almost exactly what "halistan" did to his 93 anniversary edition back around 2001. Look in his locker HERE for more photos.

He basically used the high-flow cats from a 5.0L Mustang in place of the pre-cats. He connected them to a Y-pipe and ran through a flex-joint (why?), through a bullet resonator, and back to the stock muffler.

His theory was if the Mustang cats were capable of handling emissions of a 5.0 litre engine, they should easily handle our 3.3.

What do you think, Tom?

Jsut ordered :

Magnaflow HiFlow Cat
Flowmaster 80 Series Muffler
Magnaflow Dual tips like svxcess(they grew onto me)
Two AR20 Resonators

Can't wait to get this finished. I think I might just go to a shop to get everything welded up instead of doing it myself. I feel I can do it, I just don't wanna mess something up and end up taking it to a place anyways.

Pavan, within the next couple weeks I can send you the parts you need if you still want them.

Got everything except the resonators, should be here today.

For the O2 sensor bungs, what kind should I get? I saw a few different kinds on ebay.

O2 sensor bung #1
O2 sensor bung #2
O2 sensor bung #3

Also, what type of pipe should I get? I've seen 14G and 16G, stainless steel, "aluminized" steel, and aluminum.

Here is finally a video with the camera in the back facing the exhaust... so your car should sound even better than this with the new cats and resonator.

Of course it sounds better while driving because of the weight load.

I would use the O2 bung #3 on each side of the aluminized header pipe ahead of the cats. These are what I used on all three sensors on my system.

Aluminized steel works fine. Much cheaper, easier to bend and a lot easier to weld!

Check with svxfiles for more information. Forget ebay. Pick the bungs up at any auto parts store. About the same price and the tax is a lot less than shipping.

Alright thanks. I wasn't sure of the aluminized steel because won't it rust?

Get the 3rd bung you have listed... Thats gonna be your winner.

Pipe is better with heavier gauge BUT it is also heavier and harder to bend if you are bending it. Just a warning... I am heading back over to the garage to start to finsih my new exhaust

Awsome...I saw pics of those new headers you're making and they look pretty pretty lol. I'm sure they're bigger for your SC setup but would you make a smaller set for a NA svx like mine?

If you want but I would hold off on making your exhaust until I have them done which will take several weeks... I would say that the stock headers flow just fine for a street car that is not being worked out

True, they are designed pretty well. Another thing, what's the diameter of the stock headers where they hook up before the O2 sensors? Would I just use a 2" flange on the header if its not 2"?
