Most of us agree it is good news AutoTchr got his SVX back.

Some of us would like to get the dawgs and the baseball bats out, and dispense some justice.

ALL of us would like to apply a physical lesson that would deter thieves.

Exactly. I am a father and a professional. But I can fantasize can't I? The wrestling coach and ex rugby player do want to come out now and again.

I would never do anything to jeapordize my position in the community.

Let it be know that I never warm my car up in the driveway. What happened was just as I was pulling my car out when I realized I forgot my lunch. I was in the house a very short time. Who cares, I left it running doesn't matter what the reason was.

I was thinking about the damage.....the thing that upsets me the most is that they smoked in it. Could have been much worse I guess.

Do other things. You have their names and stuff right? Go to barnes and noble, get all those 'bill me later' slips for expensive magazines. Fill a few hundred out (use rubber gloves so you won't get caught) and send em in. Buh bye credit!

Also, use their phone numbers for junk mail type stuff so they get lots of telemarketers.

Another thing to do (which would rock) would be to drain their oil and put the plug back in. HEhEHHEhehe

Angry Well...

...if I can be of any help in dealing with your insurance claim, do not fail or hesitate to contact me.

Mike, I've handled many thousands of claims for property damage with virtually all of the major carriers, and in both directions: as the entity claiming damages & the entity paying damages. I certainly hope you have comprehensive insurance (which covers such items as theft, vandalism, road hazards, etc.) and documenting the claim properly can really help in achieving a full recovery, regardless of the extent of the damages.

You are also entitled to restitution of any deductable from the responsible party, in addition to the action your insurer may have to recover what they pay you under the policy. Small claims may also be a route to recovery, and it requires the responsible party to respond, or you may be able to attach ANY asset they own.

Even if you don't have comprehensive insurance you still need to completely document your loss and all associated costs because you can deduct an unreimbursed casualty loss from your income taxes, both in Oregon and on your Federal taxes.

Feel more than free to contact me, i'm more than happy to help if I can! You may already have my phone number, e-mail me if you don't.

Norm,

You and I could have a good relationship. Didn't you need some work done awhile ago?

Cool Well, my minor front oil leak...

...has kinda' gone away on its own after a change back to Dino oil from a semi-synthetic. I'm interested, from a practical standpoint, in your manual trans swap experiences.

But I'm not offering to help in this matter expecting anything in return.

You are probably correct in-so-far as the "good relationship" is concerned, though.

I'm getting off the Net, call me at (503) 655-6372 sometime. I'll be home for the next hour or so.

A number of years ago, while living in England, I had a problem with continual vandalism to my vehicles and property by a neighbour. He was doing this due to my objections to his pedophile activities. (Which the Police were aware of but unwilling to act on.)

I erected a CCTV camera and caught him smashing my windscreen. I handed the tape to the Police but they refused to prosecute. I was later told that it was because he is a 'protected witness' and was therefore almost untouchable.

If you want to get me to do something, the best way is to tell me that I can't. I therefore set to work and printed 3000 leaflets with this mans photo and name, and headlines DANGER PEDOPHILE and delivered them door to door in the area, even handing them to Police Officers on the beat. When I had only a few left, I started to fly post them around the town centre, hoping to get myself arrested. but with no success, until I stuck them to the outside of a Police incident caravan. An over-zealous detective sergeant ordered my arrest and I was bundled off to the station, where they spent the next 12 hours trying to get my unarrested, but I wouldn't sign a release form so I had to go to court.

I was charged with disorderly conduct but I was not allowed to enter a plea, as they knew I would plead 'Not Guilty' I was told that I would be bound over for 1 year and handed a form to sign my acceptance. I signed the form clearly 'Mickey Mouse' to try to thwart their plans, but to my surprise, it was accepted by the court.

The reaction of the townsfolk was even better than I had hoped for, with the man being made a social outcast, and being banned from the local shops etc. Even more gratifyingly, the children and parents now knew how dangerous he was and he has not been seen near children since.

Just to put the icing on the cake, I then took him to court and won £40,000 in compensation for the years of harrasement.

It took many hard and painful years, but as the saying goes,

Revenge is a dish best served cold

That's interesting Andy.

Remind me not to kick your tyres.

It would seem he was behaving towards you as an untouchable, knowing he was protected by the police, and whatever deal he had arranged with the DPP.

Seems one sort of justice is traded for another in these circumstances.

Maybe the maiden with the blindfold outside the courts should also wear a pair of headphones as well for deals like this.

Well done dude!

Joe

Excellent story, Andy! I love to see good people come out on top in the end. Woohoo! Sweet justice (even if it is in a round about way)!
