Timing jump?

So I changed the water pump the other day. All was good after. But then it started running badly. It runs relatively smooth but when driving there is no power and there's more of a drone sound in the exhaust. So I'm thinking it jumped timing or bad spark plugs. Any suggestions?

Re: Timing jump?

1st rule. Go back to the last thing you did.... My guess is the timing is off a tooth. How does it sound when it starts...

Re: Timing jump?

Timing. Make sure you preload the tensioner. You may and should consider a new timing belt if you didn't replace with new.

You can get a good timing belt kit on ebay for less than $150, including all the idlers.

Re: Timing jump?

Sounds like timing belt is off a tooth. Must first mark timing belt cogs, crank and both cam pulleys with chalk or grease pencil and then re check and re check again by counting teeth on both sides of center crank. 53 teeth each side if I remember correctly.good luck with it.
