Re: Failing aftermarket fuel pumps
Quote:
Spark, Fuel, Air ... 1. You've confirmed the engine turns over 2. Pull the fuel line from the fuel filter to the fuel rail -- crank and confirm that you've got fuel pressure 3. No fuel pressure - pull the back seat bottom and check to see if you're getting voltage at the pump when the key is on 4. Voltage good? yeah, replace the pump 5. No voltage? start back tracking the circuit 6. Good Fuel pressure at the fuel rail? start checking your sensors that will prevent correct spark events -- temp sensor, crank sensor, cam sensors -- you're looking for the correct resistance across each sensor. If you're lucky and can acquire them, replace them - one at a time - checking to see if it will start after each replacement. Good luck with it! Bill

Re: Failing aftermarket fuel pumps
It's under the football shaped metal cover held in place with four phillips screws.

Re: Failing aftermarket fuel pumps
Be sure to check the ground side as well. Have seen a lot of fuel pumps fail from bad grounds. Increased physical resistance will cause higher amperage draw but increased electrical resistance will decrease amperage draw. A pump that draws too little burns out. Don't know why but it seems to happen.

Re: Failing aftermarket fuel pumps
Not entirely sure. I cleaned the connector receptacle contacts. It was still not wanting to start. For some reason I told my kid to floor it and try one more time. It started and stayed running. I was able to start it a couple more times tonight with no issues. It idles great.

Re: Failing aftermarket fuel pumps
Sounds like the pump had to pressurize the system
