Re: HELP! Issue with my rod bearings!

My cranks already polished and balanced so that isn't the issue, my issue is I can't check my oil clearances or put my engine back together until I get the correct bearings... and I still don't know whats right or wrong. The process of elimination has so far cost me like 160 dollars..

Well, that is how custom work is done sometimes.. I apologize for not correcting a post from a long time ago after I went through the whole ordeal for myself. Try to resell the bearings on Nasioc or something like that to recover some of the losses.

Re: HELP! Issue with my rod bearings!

I got this information from here: http://www.canardzone.com/members/ph...cification.htm

The crankshaft is supported by seven bearings to provide high rigidity and strength. The corners of the crankshaft journals and webs, as well as the crank pins and webs, are finished with fillet-rolled work to increase strength. The seven crankshaft bearings are made from aluminium alloy and the No. 5 bearing is provided with a flanged metal to receive thrust force

Tom, RallyBob, Lan, SOMEONE lol, does this confirm that it uses the #5 thrust bearing?

Re: HELP! Issue with my rod bearings!

yes our engine uses the #5 main as the thrust... BUT the 4 bangers use the #3 I believe. If you ordered #5's already and they are not the right ones, it is pretty simple logic that the #3's are gonna be correct. You could just search for 2.2l turbo bearings

Re: HELP! Issue with my rod bearings!

I thought they were right, you just got me super confused first saying that you weren't sure, then saying that both part numbers were wrong, and not were back full circle. I can't keep up.

Re: HELP! Issue with my rod bearings!

both number were wrong... You need bearings to match a 2.2l turbo. I am fairly confident that they are #3 thrust

Re: HELP! Issue with my rod bearings!

Just so were clear, your telling me that the EG33 thrust bearing is in the number 5 location.. but I need to buy the bearing with the thrust location in number 3? That doesn't make sense to me.

Re: HELP! Issue with my rod bearings!

I believe that Tom is saying that the block location differs, one engine to the other, but the thrust bearings are interchangable. The reason the bearings are interchangable is because the thrust location in each block is machined to the same size. Make sense?

Re: HELP! Issue with my rod bearings!

you are not ordering bearings for the 3.3... So don't worry about where the bearings go in the engine.

You are order bearings for a 2.2l turbo. They take the #3 thrust location.

Now, you can save some grace here and just order one set of mains for the #3 thrust. This will give you the correct thrust bearing and you will have 2 sets of bearings that will be the ones you want. The only differences in main bearings between the #3 & #5 kits is just the thrust bearing so you can use all the bearings out of the old kits just not the thrust bearing
