"U" joints??

is it rare for the drive shaft to go bad on a SVX?
Like "U" joints?

Are replacement "U" joints available?

Thanks,
Keith

Re: "U" joints??

U joints are replaceable but difficult to keep from vibrating.

Its also difficult to find a shop that will balance the shaft as well.

Re: "U" joints??

Ok, opinions here, my rear driveline is binding with the accompanying torque shudder and freeway vibration.

Should I A). Put up with it until I can afford a "new" one, or

B). Put in the FWD fuse for now, even though my driving style isnt exactly "gentle".

I dont wanna blow my diff but the torque shudder is irritating.

Thoughts?

Your pretty close. There is a guy in Chino Valley, here who cut the ends off for me and put new serviceables in .
Also did the balance job, and I had it on the car in two days. $330 for the work

He does a lot of work for, and is known in CA for SandRail work.

This is what I had done, it's been over three years now with no problem. Mine also has a grease fitting on it.
Check my old locker for an image.
