Because it never came out of the factory that way.

Re: rare colors

When you look at USA member lists it is noticeable that the Laguna Blue is not very common.

I would run a guess that it is probably the least common colour in the States, where you did not get the Yellow factory option.

Worldwide it is a given that the yellow cars are the rarest.

In the current UK known SVXes list the most common colour is silver with 51 cars. The vast majority of these are silver and black, with probably half a dozen of the newer bright silvers.

Next most common is Claret with 36, and again this includes a handful, maybe as few as three of the later Burgundy.

Coming up next is Black with 30, White with 26 and Red with 18 cars.

Of the factory Yellows, there is a solitary 1 car listed, although we know of another UK car which was crashed and scrapped. One car, that's as rare as it gets.

Of the other rare factory colours, Greys number 7, Greens number 6 and Blues number 4. Even here the Blues are rare. Only one car is listed as UK, the other 3 came from Japan.

Deducing from this in terms of collectibility it would seem obvious that if you have a factory Yellow, keep it. Likewise a grey or a blue. Greens other than Polo [Bright Green Mica] seem to suffer from buyer resistance, so you might not be on a winner there, depending.

Re: rare colors

As soon as I can afford it the US list of Ebony's is going to shrink, while the list of Yellow/Black duo-tones is going to grow.

Difficult to say, Darkness.

We know of two in the UK, one scrapped. In Australia there were at least two, although if there were 3 it would not surprise. I have seen photos of them in Japan, possibly two cars.

One of our members Paulo has an ex-Germany yellow in Portugal. In the German SVX club photos exist of another yellow car. That adds up to :
  • England 1 car
  • Portugal 1 car
  • Germany 1 car
  • Australia 2 cars
  • Japan 1 [?] car.
The Japan photo sightings are not reliable. They have a penchant for respraying cars over there, and these may not be original factory issue.

It's very possible that only 5 original factory Yellows survive world wide.

Joe

I think the grey metallic is also rare. JDW-SVX has one of those.

Hear ya go Matt......

This is Mal's car in the UK. Totally original.

This is a pic of a Graphite or Dark Grey Mica car, also UK spec. You can tell by the headlight washers. Japanese imports to England never have headlights washers.

This is Paulo's German market Bright Yellow car the day he bought it. It is wearing 17" Subaru rims that were an option in Germany. I have them now, Paulo preferred the style of the standard 16" rims.
