what is a flex plate, and is it expensive?

The flex plate or flywheel connects the engine to the torque converter. Do a search on "flex plate" for more. It's not an expensive part but the tranny has to be pulled. Mebbe Beav or someone with experience can tell if it sounds likely. B.

I can't hear a thing from here, it must be old age. I assume you'll be having either the dealer or a transmission shop repair your transmission - let them tell you what the noise is.
