'95 tranny into a '97. Different electrical connectors?

(Posting this on behalf of my mechanic, whose account hasn't been approved yet.)

Hello all,

I am trying to help one of your members with a transmission swap. He purchased a 97 SVX and the transmission has some issues. The diagnosis was to change it out. I offered to help him with this after a shop wanted some considerable money to change the transmission. I have the old one out and I am seeing a difference between the 2 transmissions.

There is an electrical connector on the passengers side that I have no idea what it does. Both transmissions have a 12 pin connector, one is 2 rows of 6 and the other is 3x4, Can I just swap the electrical sensor it is connected to?

Here is the original thread saying what I am trying to accomplish.

Any help you can provide would be very beneficial.

What does the other end of the old electrical connection look like?
I believe if you remove the old cable, the new one will plug right in.

Yes, some of the inhibitor switches had connectors on them, others just had the one connector... You can just plug it in

Hi that's me. The connectors are very different (one is 2 rows of 6, the other is 3 rows of 4). And I am not sure what that component does on the side of the trans. Is it something where that piece the electrical connector connects to can be swapped?

As you can see the connectors are not compatiable.

yes they are... The connector from the old trans is just a jumper from switch to the main harness.
