I think im gonna be buying a THIRD tranny soon....

So my ebony came back from the shop acouple weeks ago (it got a new timing belt/water pump), I haven't been driving it because it still needs some minor work to be road worthy.
I did however, take it up and down the street once or twice (a total of about 3/10ths of a mile).

Now, the trannys is flaring pretty bad and the front tires shudder alittle (like they want to spin), reversing out of the driveway is kinda hard for the car (uphill alittle ways) and it requires more throttle than is necessary.
So after all that I parked the car and decided to check the fluids........theres no fluid on the dipstick for the tranny.

So im pretty sure, no matter what, the tranny is gone. But is there a slight chance these symptoms could be because the fluid is low?
And what kind of harm could have come to the tranny in that short distance of driving?

hard to say there boss.... the flaring is due to low fluid. fill it up again and see what happens. I had a ford 3 speed tranny in my 66 that could run all day without fluid. Only one way to find out.

I really hope its nothing permanent......The car just got done sitting for quite awhile, I dont want to see it sit again.

I guess I should start looking into what MT tranny I want?

Low fluid will make you think the worse is happening. Get a change, not a flush, and see how it goes. Not all auto tranny problems mean an instant failure. There are weaknesses that can be fixed and some beefier rebuild offers on the forum which should be considered if its ends up needing it.
