Restoration of a "totaled" svx

As many of you probably know from the previous thread that my car was considered unrepairable by the body shop and insurance for reasonable funds. I thought I'd start a new thread showing my latest progress.

I just brought the car back to my house with the tow truck. The body shop already took the bumper, lights and grille off so I basically have a good jump start for the work ahead. I took pics to show some of the damage.

As far as I can see, my only concern at the moment is getting the hood to close right, because the drivers side has a noticeable gap when closed.

Significant Technical Input Registered SVX
The impact may have "tweeked" the radiator support off to one side a little, check around at a few small body shops for one with a frame rack, have them pull it back over till the hood lines up corectly...should be able to get it done for around $150.
Then all you'll have to do is bolt on some new parts and shoot some paint...and you'll be good to go!!!

Perfect time to fab up a lightweight aluminum front bumper.

Ask the bodyshop that did the estimate what exactly was damaged and had to be repaired. As for the hood gap...The hood isnt adjustable, last I checked. You'll have to pull the top of the fender inward. Make sure the hood's hinges arent bent before doing any adjustments

Hood?

Huck:

I have a spare hood if you need one. It's silver w a couple of paint chips. I was hoping to find someone local to sell it to, but I really need to get rid of it. It's taking up too much space.

Thanks Tom. I'll let you know. I just placed an order for a new radiator so I can drop it in and run the engine so I can drive it around the block a few times just to see how it runs.

Does anyone know the state laws as to driving without a front bumper? I know I need to have the headlights and turn signal back in....
