Yeah, thanks for trying to help out last night Tom.
I will tow the car to my house, and will start working on it then... at the moment I can not stop thinking about it being either towed, or scratched, or bumped by shoppers. Maybe I can even try to get OT out here... *guilty smile* a marvelous weekend in Springfield Stay tuned for updates... will be leaving work early to get this all done. -Sov13t.

I am not sure about the SVX, but I know on other cars, if the timing belt breaks, it will usually crank a lot more freely. I am assuming this would be true for the SVX also. Might be a good give away if it is the belt that broke.
Only other thing I can think of is if it is not the timing belt, try holding the gas pedal to the floor when starting it. My svx, when it was having a ton of issues, would crank without starting unless the gas pedal was to the floor. Good luck getting your car fixed. |

Situation Report: June 11th 2007.
Got my car towed from the parking lot to my house. $75 for loading the car and $6 for two miles that it supposedly took (i think its more of 1.2mi). Rolled the car into the parking spot and checked the coil with the spark plug and checked if it fired. No fire. Didn't have time to open any of the timing belt covers as I am heavily under tooled. Will be doing more work tomorrow. Still have hope.... Thanks for the support and help -Sov13t.

How many miles on your SVX? How long did you have it what was the miles on it when you bought? Has the timing belt been changed?
Hope it's something simple for you - glad your car's towed back home. =p

I have 160.7k mi on the car. My father bought the car and I believe it was right around 110-120 when he got the car. The car had a timing belt changed at 109k mi.
I just hope its nothing major as what I had to go through with the transmission swap... Will be taking off the timing belt cover today after work to check and see whats going on in there. As someone pointed out already the engine would turn differently, faster/slower or sound different when it is cranking but that is not the case... it sounds normal to me...

Took off the timing belt cover, timing belt intact, turns fine, tension is also good.
Going to do another spark plug test tomorrow to make sure first one was correct. -Sov13t.

Since the T-belt seems in-tact, I'd suspect a bad Crank Position Sensor (or Cam position sensor) the crank sensorS (yes, there are 2 of them)are right under the alternator, and the cam sensor is behind the driver's side cam sprocket, just in front of the left valve cover (near the battery)

Yes, that is the current conclusion.
However, what is surprising... i think to all of us... is the fact that there are no error codes being thrown.

It was a Crank Sensor, diagnostics via Select Monitor showed 32 degree retard and 5.1v in my left O2 sensor. After replacing the Temp sensor and the crank sensor the car started with the 32 deg retard had to give it a little gas until the ECU learned and readjusted back to 0. Car functions normally.
Exact theory on how all of this happened would have to be told by Tom. Thank you Tom for coming out! -Sov13t.

good for you and your car lives again
i thought some cars will give some warnings before it eventually went out like that. warnings as the car will die few weeks before it finally gave up but you can still start your car after it dies to drive home or etc.
