Crank Pulley Tool
I have ordered 2 of these crank shaft tools online at $80 a pop. Subaru is unable to tell me which one I need. I cant return the tools and rather than spend another $80, does ANYONE have the tool I can rent?? My mechanic is afraid to use the screwdriver in the flywheel trick. and when I mentioned the flicking the starter method he freaked out.... i just want my oil pump replaced and I cant get it done without this freakin tool!! I think the STUPID Subaru dealer in Las Vegas MUST be Mob owned because when i mention SVX they get this glassy stare and cold sweat. HELP!!

I just bought a plain old strap wrench from sears for $10 and did the job myself in my garage. It's not as hard as you'd think. And it's even easier if you have access to an impact wrench. I didn't and still got the job done. Take a little time and check out local import shops. Just call around an ask if they can change timing belts.

unfortunately the technique displayed in the above picture didnt work for me. The rubber strap wrench snapped like a little toy ...i ended up using one of those heavy duty canvas strap wrenches. I got mine from snap on but im sure some other companies make them. I also had to use an impact wrench.
