Right now I'm waiting on an estimate for them to take out all my dings and scratches, but it may end up more worthwhile getting a new paint job and body work, but we'll see.

Color change anyone?

But in all seriousness I probably would stay with the same color but trying to see if the body shop is willing to work with me on pricing since they are already tearing the front end apart. They said they are more on the expensive side because they pull each individual panel and spray it to minimize taping and they use Du Pont paint.

Hmm..Pulling each panel...I guess that means they can lay the part flat (like say, the doors) as to allow them to hammer on the clear without it running. Makes it look Deeeeeeeeeeep...we always did that with new parts
anyways, whatever way you decide to go with bodywork, color, ect....it would seem the minor accident worked in your favor. good luck with it, and you bet your buttocks I wanna see it when its done

Hey Tom, they are having a few problems locating some of the parts... can I give them your number so they can purchase some of the parts off you from your rolled SVXi?

So far they have problems locating the front bumper and radiator to my knowledge but they are still waiting for room to pull it into the bay to tear it apart.

In the mean time I may purchase a cheap daily driver to get around in.

If they are being stupid and its on insurance, give them a link to a PWR radiator, if not one of the "aftermarket" OEM style that can be found anywhere.

Thanks danny.

So far my experience has not been a good one. Allstate just checks for visible damage so I know there will be plenty of supplemental damage.

It's been over a week now and my car is still sitting in the back of the lot all muddy .

It has not been taken into the bay yet and they are very weary of buying off the internet and charge a 30% mark up to include labor to install products.

I think as far as getting the full body work done, if it's taking this long I'd hate to see how long I'm going to be without my car if I get everything done.

Allstate did total my car after all .

For some reason the body shop wouldn't budge on using used parts from out of state. WIth new parts + labor it came out to like 2850 and they valued the car at 3500. I get to keep the car and I dont have to buy it back, but now I have to figure out what to do with it.

Am I missing something here... 2800$ is CLEARLY less than 3500$

so um...let them total it, get the 3500$, fix the car's 2800$...and have your car fixed PLUS 700$ in your pocket?

Something just doent seem right. Either that, or I dont know how insurance works

If the damage is way more than 50% value of the car, they will choose to total the damaged car. In this case, yes. Very clear. Because that auto bodyshop doesn't use used parts, that's why increase the cost of the damage repairs so to total his SVX.

What is your deductible? That's not too bad though...you get to keep your car with that amt after your deductible...I believe we have people here or someone could be able to fix your SVX with cheaper price and you can use the extra money to put in some upgrade/other parts...
