Pre-cats or resonators?

I'm replacing the main cat on my SVX and my mechanic suggests to replace the pre-cats too. Should I put on new pre-cats or two resonators? I really want a smooth quite ride. I don't have emission test here in PA.

I would put new cats in place of the pre-cats but I wouldn't go OEM as they are too expensive. I think Magnaflow has a option that will work in our cars.

I put the Magnaflow ones on my car when I had my new exhaust done. I bought them off Ebay for half of what Magnaflow wanted. They worked out very well and are smalled than stock ones. The part number is 50004.
