Hey guess what, I'm gonna drive my car and take care of it like I would any other.. but when crap happens I'll sell it and buy something else. svxi aren't going to appreciate because they're slow, heavy, unreliable, and have bad gas mileage by today's and tomorrow's standards. They have some nifty features but not enough to make them anything super special. Just drive your car and enjoy it while it lasts.

There are others with low mileage who did not respond to this thread. I just hate to see as many get wrecked and put off the road from time to time.

[QUOTE=TomsSVX]Why?? Isn't the point of having a car to drive it?? I mean, you don't buy a pair of shoes and vow never to wear them...
WELL UMMMMM....not since I bought an SVXI havent! I do have a thing for expensive kicks though, even though I never go anywhere to wear them!

Interesting thread because I'd love to have a climate-controlled showroom with an ultra-low mileage SVX in it (among others), but I'm probably more impressed with high mileage than low. It's pretty easy to keep a car in nice condition if it's never driven. My '92 pearl turned 170k last week-- hardly a record, but I'm happy that it's still a nice looking, good running car.
Doesn't someone here have a wrecked '92 with less than 500 miles on it? |

I have to chime in with "my" story.
I bought my '97 in 2000, paying top Blue Book at the time. It now has 70K plus since I commuted to work in it until I retired in 2003. It is well used, but well maintained. Since I autocross and put it on the track, I change brake pads like underwear ...... Now that I have the '92 Pearly, I doubt it will get the activity it has in the past. And like one of the earlier posts, I admire a vehicle with lots of miles on it, obviously well maintained and looking sharp! Harry

Just purchased my Teal 92 today! It now has 55,115 miles on it (from the 55,052 miles it had when I left the owner's house). I would love nothing better than to put miles on this car. It begs for it!
Messed up thing about this purchase is that the owner has a Bordeaux with only 65K in even better condition than this one ... which is sick. Ira |

My 92's mileage is not bad, 18,000 miles . The only bad part is that you have to add 100,000 miles to it afterward . I'm all for the "The car is meant for driving" frame of mind. To really tell you the truth, I work as a Sheetmetal worker, on a construction site with dirt and what, and I still drive my SVX in it to get to the parking area. I keep her maintained well and shine her up once a week so, why not? If I owned a Lambo or a Ferrari, I'd still drive it to work. I'd just be a lil' more careful . Though, I probably won't be working construction if I owned those cars .

I'd guess my cars fall into the average-mileage category, and from the outside, both look their age. I didn't buy them expecting they'd appreciate in value; I'm a Subaru fan who fell for the SVX when it was introduced, and I like driving something distinctive. It's a matter of pride that the old gals aren't money-pit garage queens, but reliable daily drivers. If the value holds or picks-up, so much the better.
