Ok, the idiots who installed my new head unit

I think connected to the internal antenna not the retractable one. How easy of a fix is this? Not a big fan of going back to have them fix it. It already took them 3 hours to just install a head unit.

Next week will be new speakers.

Thanks

Greg

Pin #18 on the stock plug was proably not hooked up to the deck. It's the black and green wire.

Better to have idiots install your headunit, than to install it yourself and screw something up. You cant get free stuff from yourself for shotty workmanship

I installed mine myself as I was affraid of idiots screwing it up.

See the how-to document for instructions on how to remove the side panel and swap the antenna cables. There's two of them.

+1

i bought a headunit at Best Buy, and was offered a free install. the tech then told me there was a factory amp buried in the dash somewhere that would make it a difficult job.

i declined on the free install.

yea, my reception is horrible.

WHat tickes me off is I saw it moving earlier, but he must have disconnected it or something later in the process. Ugh.

Ok, then it isn't necessarily plugged into the wrong ant. If the Ant is not going up and down, then the wire that tells the ant that the radio is on must not be connected, poorly connected, or grounding out.

It most likely came loose while the tech was fighting with the mess of wire to stuff it all back in along with the head unit. Here is a write up on removing the head unit. http://www.geocities.com/svxdc/AudioInstall-2.htm If you are not up to the task, just bring it back and have them fix the wiring.
