Quick center cap question
On the stock wheels, do the center caps pop off from the front, or are they secured from the back somehow. I pried on one for a while with no success and didn't want to break it. Thanks.

They are held on by some clips to the center of the wheel. I was able to pop them out very easily by using a thin flat head screw driver. Be careful not to scratch the paint on your wheels though.
Another way to take off the center caps (and not run the risk of scratching your wheels) is to remove each wheel and pop the caps out from behind. Here's a pic of my center caps from my old stock wheels when I took them off to paint them...  -Chike

I usually pull the wheels off and then get the caps off. A real pain, but I don't want to scratch the wheels or caps.

Putting On
There is a correct position to put them on also. I thought I might mention it since you seem unfamiliar with them. There is a Tab on the inside of the center cap that fits into a hole or slot on the wheel. If these are matched the cap fits flush to the wheel. Any of the other possible positions will leave it sticking out slightly on one side.

The three that I had when I got the car were horribly discolored so I just pried them off with a huge screwdriver and chucked em. Way PITA getting them off that way.

Small word of advice...
I normally take the wheel off, and pop them off from behind.
Because there is so little clearance, I can't think of a way to get them off from the front, and not damage the cap or the wheel. BTW, when you get your wheels changed or balanced, most tyre places do not take the time and care to put them on properly with the small nub lined up with the slot. Then the hub-cap sticks out slightly. If you drive it a long time like this, the paint will wear off the part of the hubcap that sticks out. Probably from road grit erosion, but maybe from car-wash brushes also. The hubcap paint is way softer than the paint on the alloys. So if you notice them not sitting flush, take the wheel off and fit the cap correctly. Otherwise your hubcap paint is going to wear off. Joe

Definately remove the wheel then pop the cap our from behind. I experimented with removing the caps with the wheels still on the car. I ended up breaking one. (they were my bad set anyway)

Wheel Caps
The caps CAN be removed while the wheels are on the car...by using a thin bent (90 degree) slotted screwdriver, BUT it's not really worth the effort...so easy to remove when the wheel is off!
I just painted mine. They were even much worse than the ones in the photo above! I just sanded lightly....then painted using a store bought can of silver paint (Pep Boys). It is not an EXACT match...but VERY CLOSE! [The custom paint store wanted $25 for one spray can!] Take your best cap to the store to pick out the silver paint. I think you'll be happy with this compromised approach.
