AC query...
Any way to tell, besides being an HVAC mechanic, if a car has already been switched from R12 to the new style coolant? I seached, but didn't see this question come up before, thanks

Conversion
If the conversion is done by a licensed mechanic or a HVAC shop, they are supposed to clearly mark or label that it has been done, when, oil type, etc. Mine are labeled and permanent markered on the radiator mounting frame. The piece in front of the radiator.

R-12 to R-134 Conversion
Check out this Subaru document concerning conversions from R-12 to R-134. The easy way is to look at the Schrader valves for the high and low pressure lines. The R-12 valves look exactly like the valves on your tires. The valves on the R-134 systems have larger valves that are easy to identify. - Jim
