Need A/C compressor and a condenser ..STAT!

Hey guys,

I had my A/C system leak tested today and they found:
-leaky A/C compressor at the body seal (where the two halves come together)
-leaky condenser (along the seam on the right side)
- leaky hose (easily repaired)

So far, subaruparts has them both for a hefty sum ($580+$240) . If you folks have some suggestions as to where I can buy a brand new air compressor and a condenser, that'd be great. It's about 105 today with the heat index!

'd like a brand new a/c compressor vs rebuilt. This is one area where I don't feel like gambling with a rebuilt unit. Sure, they're warranteed but each time I remove the compressor, I'm losing lots of expensive Freon. Yes, I said Freon, as in R12. I'm going to stick with R12 since this shop seems to have horded tons of this stuff. R12 is around $65/lb vs R134a is around $40/lb. Plus, I'm not overly impressed with long term coldness factor with a R134a conversion. I've done conversions in the past but R134a has smaller molecules so every so often I needed to "top" off the system with a can of R134a. Not very difficult but not great either.

I'll be removing the condenser, a/c compressor and the leaky hose this week. I'd love it if I can order something in the next couple of days.

As I stated earlier, I don't want a rebuilt unit and most local suppliers tend to only carry reman units! Thanks anyway.

Not any help to you, since you dont want a reman, but I'm buying a remanufactured compressor from Dayle/motorsports, he's a good guy and it comes with a warrantee.

Let me have the info on your reman unit. Does it come with a clutch pulley? I wonder what the return rate is on the reman units?

Here's the thread where Dayle talks about it. He donates goodies to our NW meets but I doubt he'd donate an a/c.

Right now on Ebay there is a remanufactured AC compresser AND drier with a "Buy It Now" price of $220. It is a company that remans them. Includes a year warranty. I bought one from them over 2 years ago and it is still working fine. Of course it was only $175 then. Actually the current bid price on the one above is at the start price of $200.
