I hate to burst the ballon but:

1)You don't get enough power [watts(volts x amps)] from a 12V battery for electrolysis of water on a suffucient scale to run an engine.
2) You burn the H2 in air not oxygen, so you must separate and vent the oxygen.
3) The water must that you convert to hydrogen & oxygen must be very pure. No disolved carbonates, silica, chlorine and or florine (tap water) or you will plug and /or corrode the system .
4) Dont worry about rust. Petroleum is a hydrocarbon. One of its products of combustion is water. hopefully the exhaust is run hot enough now to keep that water vaporized.

Now where did I put that 99mpg carburetor?

I think someone should invent a way for cars to run on human digestive gas. Give me a couple of chalupas and crunchy tacos and I'll power a Justy from here to AZ!

I wish they had some sounds from it. That'd be interesting. I would love to see it in action.

Well I can see that inventive and creative thinking is deed in this thread.

Just off hand, Does any one know how many cubic feet of gas would be obatined form a gallon of water, if one could get enough "juice" to crack it?

Something else...... does a phase change occur somewhere in nature that combines O2 and H to make water?

Peace

There have been cars that run on methane (one of the components of digestive gas).
Has anyone considered pouring alcohol into your gas tank rather than down your throat (Ron).

Let's see, I could put a decal on SVXY that says
"Powered by Chivas Regal".

Ron can drive the 'Box-O-Vinomobile'.

Aredub can change the name of his SVX from "Evil Twin" to
"The Makers Mark Mobile."

Back in Burma, I recall driving a truck that runs on natural gas. Yeah the same crap that comes out of your stove. 25L can take you a decent way.

I know for a fact that BMW has a 7 series prototype Hydrogen car. It takes in H in a tank(from a refill station) and takes in O2 from the air and makes H2O as a byproduct of the car's emission. The car is virtually clean and has no emission.

Ford also has a hydrogen powered focus that makes about 170hp. And folkes, its an electric car that is making 170 so torque must be higher and that little thing should be able to do the 0-60 fairly quick (provided that the motor in the car can do that).

In IL, if you convert your car to one of the alternative fuels, the state will give out tax writeoff as well as fund you a decent amount (like 90%) of the project when it is finished.
