(it's a neon being converted to subie AWD with a subie engine) (in otherwords, AWD, power, and a stiff chassis that doesn't weigh anything... it will dominate at autox)

Nah. V8= heavy, and screws up the balance of the car, and it'd probably make it easier to spin out. AWD with no mass is the way to win.

you really don't know what you're talking about. a 914 WITH a V8 weighs 2300lbs. it is mid-engined, so the handling is not affected much at all, considering the 914 is regarded as one of the most neutral handling cars in the world.

300-400hp and 2300lbs - you do the math.

duh, i forgot, Neons are ALWAYS fastAr.

DOH! I thought you meant the VW porsche... what is it... eh... 944. That's a front engined car. The 914 is that fugly one right? Anyway, a modded 914 got its ass kicked in Sport Compact Car's ultimate streetcar challenge last year.

That's much akin to paying $300,000 for a Ferrari, then removing the body and replacing it with a VW New Beetle body.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

...and then replacing the beetle body with a neon body and using an svx engine instead of a ferrari one.

What autox class would that facacta thing go in?

I love the idea, I've always told myself if I start making copious amounts of money I'd get an 84' or so rust free silver Volvo 240 wagon (given its not necesarily light or torsionally rigid) and throw in an LS6 w/ tranny, upgrade brakes, suspension etc. maybe throw in a roll cage It'd probably end up costing waaay too much, but it'd be fun as hell...anyway, like whats goin on there, even if the body/frame is a neon.

well that settles that - i'm sure driver skill had absolutely nothing to do with it. it would have to be heavily modded to compete in that competition, with 800hp Supras and the like. there's a guy with a twin-turbo 914 that has over 500hp - in a 2300lb go-kart. i'm sure he would do OK.

yeah, they are hard to look at, but there are some decent-looking custom ones out there.

Not really. The neon was purchased as a shell, no interior, no engine/trans. CHEAP. The Subaru was rolled (I believe) so it was also purchase cheap.

putting a subie engine in a neon is cheating. Its not a neon anymore whatsoever.

Oh well, have fun
