Serious About Buying A Car

Again its a Thunderbird turbo. Its a pretty decent car. I want something to beat up and have fun in. I have always wanted one and i might actually get this one. everything seems fine, its recently inspected and no major damage, just gotta test drive it and see if i can afford to insure 2 cars. well, here are some pics, sorry about the bad quality

a good rule of thumb when buying a beater car is not to get a Ford with a turbo.

seriously, you sound like me when i bought my Lesabre T-Type. i should have gotten a nice little reliable Honda or Toyota, but i always thought the Lesabre T's were cool looking and it was cheap..............and unreliable, a money pit, and not even comfortable. if you do go with the 'cool beater', i hope you have good luck with it!

Thumbs up I like'em

I've owned a couple of turbo Fords (Mustang SVO and Merkur XR4Ti). My college roommate had an'88 T-Bird turbo that we used to terrorize a variety of muscle cars in. Out of the hole, it was tough to beat (with a 5 speed that is).

Those 2.3 turbos are incredible. I hear you can boost something ridiculous like 25 psi on stock internals!!!

On the other side...
You can bet that someone has really beat on it. Cheaper isn't always better.

I'm with landshark. I'd never trust a ford motor, especially a turbo. Plus they have the worst auto trannys this side of Renault, so it would have to be a manual. Buy a Turbo Legacy or old XT for a cheap beater. Old Toyotas are hard to kill. Try a Celica or an older Supra.
