After all, it's what makes a Subaru, a Subaru, right?

Well said, Diana,

I have similar thoughts concerning the hotel. Having the 'family reunion' at the Holiday Inn is like having the reunion at great Aunt Mary's house.

You KNOW when you come to her house, you will have a great time; you always have.

Aunt Mary's place feels like home and comfortable and, while it may not be the best house in the neighborhood, you have come to love it because of all the memories there. Her driveway may not be perfect and not a lot of trees in her yard. Who really cares.

She can paint her house, renovate her house, or even add an addition to it. It is still her house at heart, containing the wonderful memories of the past.

But move her into a new house 15 miles away to new surroundings, with a new driveway, a lot of trees and those are no longer there. The family love is still intact but something is missing that cannot be replicated.

Di, that's why going 'down to the river' to throw sticks would not be quite the same anywhere else.

Re: Hopefully not my last Reading but if this keeps up...

Another way of looking at this is - would you go someplace that all of the svx members are without their cars and just meet with them? I know I would. Why? It has been said before - it is about the members, not all of the other stuff. Yes, all the other stuff and the cars are just icing on the cake. It adds value to the experience, but why do we get together, or at least I do, it is all about the people. I have more fun with them than my family! I also agree about good ol Aunt Mary's place (Holiday Inn). It just wouldn't be the same. Where else could you find a parking place that big?

Re: Hopefully not my last Reading but if this keeps up...

The Holiday Inn is harder to replace than just finding a big parking lot. We tend to keep late hours with cold ones and wrenches, and I don't think that we'd get away with all that everywhere.
