Anyone running on Sumitomo HTR+ tires?

Just curious if anyone with a SVX is sporting these tires. They don't have our oem size but do have 225 50 16 (diam= 24.8"). Anyone see an issue with this?

Their bang for the buck factor ($72/each) is pretty enticing. Tires are a huge compromise as you know and one tire can't accel at everything. But, if the pocket book is happy, at least that leaves money for other mods and PM work.

Thanks.

I have them. I only have about 2000 miles on them so I can't comment on long term performance, but so far I am really happy with them. $72 is a great deal.

Yes, I have them. Not much mileage on them yet, maybe 3,000. That said, they are a great tire in my opinion. I have them mounted on 17" Rota wheels.

I have them also "so far so good", really can't tell much about the tire only 2500 miles on them. The tell all is going to be revealed after a winter here in Chicago,Il.

Re: Anyone running on Sumitomo HTR+ tires?

I expect them not to be great in deep snow but the AWD can compensate for that somewhat. I'm just looking for an all around decent set of tires that are H rated. My days of V rated speeds are non-existent what being older and all

Re: Anyone running on Sumitomo HTR+ tires?

I had a set on my WRX (225/50-16). Nothing fantastic, but a perfectly adequate all season tire, and a great value. They were fine in a straight line in the snow, although I'd have prefered more side bite for cornering. Twice as good as the RE92's my car came with stock in every situation, but not as good in the dry as my A509's I had when I hillclimbed my car (tarmac only!).

Re: Anyone running on Sumitomo HTR+ tires?

Just ordered a set from www.onlinetires.com @ $66/each. Hopefully they'll arrive next week and will be on the car by next weekend.

We'll see how they do this winter.

Thanks for the replies fellas.

Now, off to find some speakers....

Re: Anyone running on Sumitomo HTR+ tires?

I had the tires installed at Discount Tires on Saturday and so far they're decent. I'll need take them back to have the front tires rebalanced but overall I'm content with the tires. They're quiet and seem to grip the corners well, at least far better than the previous set.

Just out of curiosity, what pressures are you guys running these tires at?

Between the new tires and all new Pioneer speakers, I fell in love again with my beauty!

Tire update

Just thought I'd give some feedback on these tires now that I've had them a while. They're great tires for the money. I've run them through snow and rain w/o any traction issues. They're still quiet on the hwy and I like the stiffer sidewall from the previous set. In the snow, it's tough to break the rear end loose. The vehicle sees dirt washboard roads daily so they don't stay clean at all.

I'm not a SCCA type driver so I don't have any G ratings for y'all. If my suspension wasn't original, I bet the corners would be a lot more fun

Anyway, great set of tires for the money. Highly recommended.

Cheers.

Re: Tire update

I think those were the tires on my SVX when I bought it. I hated them... but they were nearly bald when I got them.

I replaced them with snow tires. I actually think the Dunlop Wintersport M3's handle better than the work HTR+'s did. Then again, the Dunlops cost twice as much!

Re: Anyone running on Sumitomo HTR+ tires?

Tire rack is a good bet. Bought some General Tires (225/50/16) there and haven't had any chance to try them out. Rain tires and the car is in storage. Can't wait for spring. Will have a chance to see how they preform on the way to the meet.
