Significant Technical Input
Pearl paints have (or used to have anyway, they may use something different now) ground oyster shell in the paint formula to give them the golden/irridescent appearance.

Bordeaux pearl replaced the Claret color in '94. I used to have a claret and never noticed any pearl in the paint, but then again I don't see any in the other colors (except the white) either. I'm not sure if it's because pearl doesn't show as well in other colors as it does in white, or if they even actually had 'pearl' in the formula. Maybe Doug (Mohrds) can help you.

... got Pearl?

Hmm... there's Bordeaux Pearl, Emerald Pearl, Laguna Blue Pearl, Emerald Pearl, White Lustrous Pearl and My Ebony Pearl that has a violet undertone when it's polished and in the right light. I've seen earlier Ebonies with a green undertone.
