move to a different gear ratio. 4.11 and 4.44 gears

what does this mean? Are these gears actually in the transmission or where??
Thanks,
Keith

swapping the final gear ratio involves a change of differentials in both the transmission and the rear diff.

Genrally it's easier to just put in a donor transmission that already has that particular final drive ratio. As for the rear diff, you'll want the svx diff with the ring gear changed, as the svx has a limited slip diff and the donor differental likely wont
shoot a private message to svxfiles, he knows prettymuch everything to know about 4.11 and 4.44 swaps

Tranny has to be removed to do anything with the gears in the front diff, since it's sandwiched between the engine and the "actual" transmission. Rear diff has to be removed to do anything with those gears, too.
