THUMP! SCREECH! Crunch. thwack thwack thwack THWACK!THWACKTHWACK!!!
That seem to be all of the words in my SVXs vocabulary... Loud thwacking consistent with car speed and not engine speed, coming from tranny area - gets worse with hard turning. Could this be a transaxle? *hope hope* (car seems to be binding during sharp turns)
This sound is really LOUD. car physically thumping along with the sound... This sound started when I jammed my foot to the floor and I heard the sound of metal sheering and tearing... Any help would be appreciated... Thanks alot... Patrick

my diff sounded like knocking/crunching variable with wheel speed.
eventually (within 5-10 miles) it just locked up and I couldn't even roll the car, had to put it in gear and force it through the broken mesh (ouch). Good luck ...it still might be an axle.

I'm going 4.44 But it seems that the Legacy Outback used 2 different trannys, Can someone give me the tranny number for the correct 5bolt tranny? Thanks in advance.

what do you mean 5 bolt? Subaru used a 4 bolt, and then switched over to a 6 bolt pattern for the bell housing in like 97/98?
